If your question is not addressed here, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly. We look forward to hearing from you!
1. Are you accepting new clients?
Please reach out to the clinician(s) you are interested in speaking with, as availability varies. Most clinicians do keep a waiting list, even if they have no immediate availability.
2. How do I get started?
Use the contact us form or directly email us for more information about our current scheduling process and waitlist. Our first step is usually to schedule an initial phone/virtual consult.
We offer a free 15 minute phone or virtual consult for any prospective clients to discuss logistics like potential schedule matches and coordinating insurance use or reviewing self-pay rates. We try to gather brief background information on primary concerns or symptoms and identify what type of services a client is interested in. Finally, this call is time for clients to ask any questions they’d like to help narrow down whether we may be a good fit - essentially a vibe check.
We invite all potential clients to interview us and encourage shopping around to find the best fit for themselves (even if that’s not us).
3. What does a typical therapy session look like?
Our services are currently offered virtually, though be on the lookout for in-person options in Baltimore City in 2025. We strongly suggest finding a quiet, confidential, and calm place to hang out in during your session. Each client’s therapeutic process is tailored to them so there is no standard script, but generally a session will start with a check in, move into emotional processing or skill building, and end with some sort of session summary and/or self-identified goals for the upcoming week. Along with typical talk-based interventions we often try to draw on client’s interests, strengths, and environment to enhance our work. We may use music, art, or movement to delve deeper into emotional work, and then use humor and play when we need to come up for air.
4. What should I have/bring to the intake appointment?
Once we’ve completed the initial consult and scheduled an intake, we will email a link to our Electronic Health Record system (EHR) where clients can update their profile, view and fill out the intake paperwork, and add payment card information. Intake paperwork, insurance card (if using), and payment information must be completely filled out and signed at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled intake appointment. Outside of the formal paperwork we encourage clients to bring their courage, patience, and vulnerability to the intake session - it can feel overwhelming to talk about personal information with someone new. Our mission is to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered during the intake and in all phases of therapy.
5. What is the cancellation policy?
We know that life happens and sometimes unexpected schedule conflicts come up. We also recognize the importance of setting healthy and transparent boundaries and of holding ourselves accountable. We ask that clients email or text their clinician to cancel with at least 24 hours notice from the scheduled appointment time. We consider a session no-show one in which a client has not logged in to the virtual meeting room and/or notified the therapist of a brief delay by 10 minutes after the start of the scheduled session time.
Under Constellation Counseling’s grace policy, clients receive one free late cancellation and one free no-show per calendar year. Beyond this, should the need to reschedule with less than 24 hours notice come up, at the therapist’s discretion, rescheduling the session within the week may be possible without being charged the late cancellation fee. A session no-show will not be rescheduled within the week and will be charged the full no-show fee in most situations.
Cancellation/no-show fee is equal to the full self-pay rate of the scheduled session type; late cancellations and no shows are not covered by insurance
6. What forms of payment are accepted?
A credit card must be on file before your first session. Some FSA and HSA cards are accepted. If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us directly.
7. Do you accept insurance?
Currently, we are in network with CareFirst/BCBS. However, because individual policies and coverage vary, please verify whether the clinician you plan to work with is considered in-network.
We are happy to provide super bills to assist with your out of network insurance claims, as needed.
